Description
The sun shines down on large dollops of spreading pollen and curls of petals about to pop out of the previous bud that was this sunflower. Big, bright, red-orange and golden sunflowers took over a section of my garden in early summer, showing off their dramatic blooms for a few weeks. Interesting shapes arise from the petals, twisting stems, and leaves, and their colors play tricks of the light from summer sun and shadows. This portrait of a Sunflower reveals a deep, dark blue center that looks black at other times, but the camera picks up its iridescence.
I enhanced the show with a bit of saturation to deepen the look of the flower's beauty and offset shade effects. It's all natural, the Sun did it!

What is ARTOGRAPHY:
ARTography combines photography with digital painting to create a different final piece. I coined the term Artography in 2009 for the process that blends photography, pigment art, and digital paint as media of its own. I love the many ways imagery and varying modes of painting, drawing, and re-imagining can be brought fully to a canvas, actual or virtual.
I'm most creative when I can blend pigment or digital paint with photography, and the resulting "artography" describes this joining of two processes I most often use.
