Description

DANCERS TAKE FIVE is a five minute break between dances in costume rehearsal. The inspiration came from a visit to a dance studio in Texas. I had the opportunity to professionally photograph six different ballerinas in various costume and sets, to create a series of works. The subject featured ballet dancers in the studio. Several exciting leaps and jumps are captured in this series. This is the first of the grouping. This photographic work was printed onto canvas then hand painted atop it with acrylic and glitter paint to add highlights and enhance details. The genre is my coined term "artography", also called "photopainting, enhanced, or painterly art" by others .
Note in zoom mode that I added sparkle paint to the tops of the ballerinas' costumes. The original hand painting creation was printed on 9"x12" canvas, hand painted, and framed. It was donated to charity to auction for the Shriners in Plano Texas.
