Description
Close capture of a bee on top of a springtime thistle among Indian blankets or Firewheel flowers. This was a field near Austin Ranch in The Colony, Texas where I lived a very short time. I jumped out on my drive past the field in the warm Spring time of 2011. (The field now has apartments built upon it, so it's an historic shot for posterity in a way). The Indian Blankets, aka Firewheel, are red and yellow Gaillardias in their wild form. Gaillardias are part of the Sunflower family.
