This thistle like wildflower has an almost sea life look to it, especially close. The petals are luminous and tuberous nearly like hundreds of antennae, but wait, there ARE antennae there! Look just slightly right of twelve noon in the center "face" of the flower and you can see a white arachnid has nestled into the white-with-lavender flower. I shot this late Spring closeup from a patch of wildflowers but didn't actually discover the pale spider til examining the photo later on. Its legs look just like the flower petals and you really must zoom in to spot the incredible job of camouflage. What's more, this sneaky spider has a crab- like look to it, making me think even further of an undersea world!
