Description
A ghostly image haunting the room beyond the door with its heavy knocker, an inhabitant of a tower room, perhaps? Many occupants of the Tower of London resided there temporarily before they met execution, typically by beheading. Happily, Elizabeth I (before she was queen) was released from her stay in the tower as a young women, by Mary, her half sister, but not so for her own mother, Ann Boleyn the 2nd wife of Henry the VII. Her execution was a swift clean cut from a swordsman, generously supplied by Henry to spare her the usual multiple hackings of the axe.
This is a self portrait digipainted to create a ghostly setting.
